I remember the first time I heard this song, it was Tuesday 13 December 2016. I received a WhatsApp message it read:
“Morning music man.. if you haven’t heard it already”
Me being me, I thought to myself what song is this that I’ve probably already heard before 🙄…I pressed play, then I heard a guitar instrumental, it sounded familiar, yet I couldn’t place it.
Then, to my surprise I hear Lady Pastor Aida’s voice, I thought to myself what?🤔 At this point I was confused, maybe it was just somebody that sounded similar to Aida, but I mean I’ve listened to enough podcasts and seen Aida live enough times to know what LP Aida’s voice sounds like.
If at this point I wasn’t shell shocked enough, what do I hear next? But the voice of my pastor Bishop Dag Heward-Mills.
Considering the track was over 14 minutes long I listened to the whole thing, bare in mind this was at 8am on a Tuesday morning and I was supposed to be getting ready for work…it was love at first listen.
I was so excited about the song I asked where it was from before I thanked the person for sharing it with me…if you’re reading friend, thanks for being “the plug” (that’s a phrase I borrowed from my younger siblings, it means source or supplier). Unfortunately, as I have an iPhone (don’t judge me), I was unable to save this song into my music player 😩.
Why have you titled this post as “The 2017 anthem”?
First of all the name of the song is The Mountain of the Lord’s House and you can download it free here!
The reason why personally I claim it to be the 2017 anthem is because it was the last song I heard in 2016 & the first I heard in 2017 and I know it will feature a lot through the course of this year.
If you’ve never heard the song it has a somewhat eclectic structure it has the soft rock/pop guitar instrumental taken from James Bay’s 2014 track Let It Go. Lady Pastor Aida sings
1Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee.2For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the Lord shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.(Isaiah 60:1-2)
3And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.
the chorus of the song is
2And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the Lord’s house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it.
and the bridge is
3And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising.
On top of this soundtrack you have Bishop Dag prophesying into the lives of the listeners.
Funny random story about this song. I thought I could teach myself how to play this song on the guitar (bare in mind, I can barely play the guitar). I was convinced that song used a sampled instrumental but Shazam failed to help me. So I thought if I use my guitar tuner app I could work out the chords of the song, learn to play it and impress everyone (including myself, I mean when people asked me who taught me how to play it would’ve been an interesting story). However, things didn’t quite go to plan, well actually they didn’t go as badly as you might think. Anyway my younger brother, who listens to worldly music walked in on me trying work out the chords. After watching me painfully working out the main chords he simply asked me “why don’t you just get chords from the internet?” I looked at him like don’t you think I would’ve done that if I knew it could be done 😒. Then he was like “doesn’t it use the instrumental from James Bay Let it Go?” …The way my face lit up when I entered that information on to YouTube. Cheers bro!
…the only thing is now I’m convinced God actually wants me to learn to play this song…😩 no pressure.
Anyway check out aidalive.com for more spiritual music and until the next time, may grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all! ✌🏾
